The First Chapter

 

This is a gently posed newborn session that allows for multiple poses. I will work at your baby’s pace, allowing plenty of time for comfort, feeds, and cuddles. This session also includes a mix of wrapped and gentle poses & includes parents and siblings upon request.

FAQ

 

When should I book?

I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant where possible to ensure you have a slot. We’ll use your due date to reserve space in my diary, and once baby arrives we can arrange your actual session date within 2 weeks of baby's arrival. If baby is already here, don’t worry, you can still get in touch and I’ll always try my best to fit you in. I do newborn sessions up to 12 weeks old. Sometimes life happens and you don't manage those sessions within the first 2 weeks, that is absolutely fine.

How old should my baby be for newborn photos?

Newborn sessions are often photographed within the first couple of weeks, when babies tend to be sleepier and naturally curl up into those sweet newborn poses. However, controversially, there is no cut-off! I photograph newborns up to around 12 weeks old.

If you’re looking for those curled-up, sleepy poses you see throughout my portfolio, I definitely recommend having your session within the first two weeks after baby is born. As your little one gets older, their awake time increases and they become a little less sleepy and curly, which can make some of those poses more difficult.

That doesn’t mean you’ve missed your chance, though! Every stage is a little different, and we can still capture those gorgeous, sweet newborn photographs regardless of your baby’s age.

How long does a newborn session take?

I allow up to 4 hours for a full newborn session so there is absolutely no rush. This gives us plenty of time for feeding, changing, cuddles and settling whenever baby needs it. Wrapped-only sessions are usually much shorter and can take around an hour.

What if baby needs to be changed/fed or take breaks?

Then we stop! There is never any rush during a newborn session. You can feed, change, cuddle or settle your baby whenever they need it. The studio also has a bottle warmer and baby-changing essentials available for you.

Can we bring our dog?

Yes! Your furry family members are welcome too. Just let me know beforehand if you’d like your dog included so I can prepare for them — there are even dog treats waiting at the studio.
