I first picked up a camera at 11 years old, the first photo I took was of a fruit bowl and put it in sepia tone, but I remember just how proud I was of that photo and showed it to anyone who would look. Fast forward a few years, I retired the sepia tone and now specialise in family/children photography. My goal in photography is to create timeless memories that will never fade.
I’ve always loved the power of a photo, the way it freezes a moment, tells a story, or brings someone’s personality to life. What I love most is giving people images that feel like them.. authentic, confident, and full of heart. I’m all about creating a space where you feel comfortable, seen, and celebrated. My indoor photoshoots are based in my studio in Ayr. I am located pretty central in Ayr in Arthur Street. I always advise clients park in Boswell Car Park, right across the road. Paying for all day parking (only £5) removes the stress of baby's co-operating or children to warm up to me. Please note, my studio is on the second floor, so there will be stairs, but there is a lift available if need be at the other end of the building. Upon arrival to the studio (beside MyDenist), you will see a buzzer. Press the down button to choose Amy Gray Photography from the list and I will be right there. I will meet you outside and we will go up the stairs to my studio. As you arrive, depending on your session there will be light music playing, the vibes of the music will depend on the type of session and is just to get the most out of those being photographed (i.e. newborn sleep noises, upbeat chart music for children and romantic music for couples). There is a coffee bar and an accessible toilet for you at any time during your session. Your set-ups will be ready to allow the session to move smoothly, but please let me know if you would like to change anything, I have all props and items on hand to change things up. Depending on your session, you will receive a "preparing for your session" email, detailing the full outline of your session and anything you need to prepare for beforehand.
My outdoor sessions are based in one fixed location prior to booking, or an outdoor location of your choice. I have spesific locations that have been carefully scouted out around Girvan, Maybole, Ayr, Prestwick, Troon and the surrounding areas, most are all within walking distance from public transport. If you have an ideal location for your photos, or if you live out within Ayrshire, I am more than happy to work with you on this and we can discuss this prior to booking. I will arrive 10-15 minutes before shoot time in order to set up and prepare for the session. We will have a quick chat before the session for you to be able to get familiar with me and we can then go from there!
